The McCulloch 2827 trimmer is part of the line of trimmers designed to help homeowners control grass and weeds in hard to reach areas of the lawn and landscape. The 28cc gasoline-powered engine on the trimmer features a primer bulb that is used to transfer fuel from the tank into the carburetor to help during cold starting. The primer bulb is pressed several times each time the trimmer is started, resulting in wear over time. Installing a new primer bulb on the McCulloch trimmer will help prevent down time.
1
Place the McCulloch 2827 trimmer on a stable work surface such as a workbench or on a work shop floor. Pull the spark plug wire from the tip of the spark plug for safety while working.
2
Remove the screw from the air filter housing cover with a screwdriver and pull the cover off the air filter housing. Remove the air filter from the housing. Place a small container under the carburetor to catch any gas that might be in the primer fuel line.
3
Grip the sides of the primer bulb bracket, located on the side of the air filter housing, and press in to release the tabs. Pull the bracket and bulb and bracket assembly out from the air filter housing.
4
Pull the primer fuel line from the outlet on the back of the primer bulb assembly. Obtain a replacement primer bulb assembly from a small engine repair shop.
5
Connect the primer fuel line to the outlet on the back of the primer fuel assembly. Snap the primer assembly back onto the side of the air filter housing. Push the assembly firmly in place until the tabs seat properly in the housing.
6
Replace the air filter in the air filter housing, and then attach the housing cover on the housing and secure in place with the screw.
