Awesome Game!

This is an amazingly immersive game. I really wasn’t expecting much of it, but its awesome! I have some underwhelming graphics, but this game still runs very well (on medium to high settings). If you could expand the compatibility with mods, that would make this game even more amazing! But, never the less, Overall, this game is amazing!

I'd imagine it would be the encyclopedia and a very thing manual. I don't really see the points of manuals (unless of course they contain what the encyclopedia contains). I think Ubisoft is working on having all their manuals digital to save money and the world!

'Just because you lose doesnt mean you surrender' - Stephen Colbert

Think of the children!... and the trees too! But in this day and age a lot of people have smart phones, so you can probably access the encyclopedia's manual from there using the Shogun 2 app (not sure if it has the encyclopedia or not; hope it does).

Unit cost and upkeep is included. Don't know what you mean with statistics but upgrades isn't necessary as it depends and many factors where the unit was build. It can be changed with 2-3 different buildings that can make many variations of the unit. So that couldn't by any chance be included in a normal manual.
My own opinion is that it would be nice with a fysical manual but not necessary. I love reading manuals while trying to sleep and I've never liked e-book readers. A manual could be included in the Collectors Edition and the editions of that size.

cost and upkeep are included (sorry) but it skims over other areas,
a manual has a much smaller carbon footprint than an electronic device which I dont own or want,

The shogun 2 app doesnt have the encyclopedia, just the video you get when quitting the demo, some screens, a glossary and links to some websites. Big disappointment.

I would like to know which areas you want to have included that is possible to include and not are there already?
And you last point can be discussed from now and to the destruction of earth... There is an almost infinite factors that can be included in such a discussion that it will never end

I remembered ME2's manual. That was probably the best manual i've ever read.

Haven't the Devs said that the Demo is a previous version of the game to that that will be released. At a point in time they 'branched' the code so they could work on the Demo and the final product seperately. As a consequence I don't think we can say that the Demo version of the Encyclopedia will reflect the version we'll see in the final game.
From a personal perspective I might read a specific paragraph in a manual if there's something I don't understand but I'm much more likely to jump into the game and learn as I go.

You are correct. That was a very detailed and helpful manual. Although I also liked the map that came with the box, and the poster with all the buildings and units, and their respective requirements/upgrades. All this stuff is now in the encyclopedia though, so it makes me wonder if the Shogun 2 manual will just be a thin, how-to install type of thing.

The companion app already clocks in at 108MB, adding another 34MB for the encyclopedia would make it quite a beast!
